Acropolis of Byrsa located at the center of ancient Carthage. This quarter on the southern slope of the hill is town remains from the Punic era, which avoided the demolition and reconstruction by the Romans. You can observe the style of wall building peculiar to this region (pier-and-rubble technique). Long rectangular parallelepiped stones are placed at even intervals to make them piers, and then the spaces are filled up with rubbles to form walls. |
