How the ancient city plan can be restored

The above illustration shows how the ancient city
plan can be restored using aerial photographs. The ancient plan
of Nara (Heijo-Kyo) can be found by tracing the paths between
the rice fields. It is known that the streets and the city blocks
were selectively well constructed in the area along the main street
(Suzaku-Ōji).
